Surprised， or not？I've had this sitting on my kindle for a while now and to be honest， I'd been putting it off。 I。 Shouldn't。 Have。The blurb all reads for "hunk saves the day" and all， so I expected an "my flights delayed" kind of book。 I'll admit there's some definite clichés at the beginning， I didn't mind， I wanted an easy read for my afternoon。 What I ACTUALLY got was relevant， so many murder/spy/secret service type of novels feel so very generic and nothing hugely differentiates them for me Surprised， or not？I've had this sitting on my kindle for a while now and to be honest， I'd been putting it off。 I。 Shouldn't。 Have。The blurb all reads for "hunk saves the day" and all， so I expected an "my flights delayed" kind of book。 I'll admit there's some definite clichés at the beginning， I didn't mind， I wanted an easy read for my afternoon。 What I ACTUALLY got was relevant， so many murder/spy/secret service type of novels feel so very generic and nothing hugely differentiates them for me， but I do enjoy them nonetheless。 There's parts of this book that could very much be about ANY successful business person or politician， at some point along their way， to enhance their career， they've had to make morally difficult or wrong decisions。 How far they "cross the line" is a completely different story based upon position etc。 Ultimately， everyone has a dirty secret they wouldn't want the world to know， the higher your position， the bigger the secret/scandal。I enjoyed the fact the author used technology， apps in this case， as a "plot" in a generation of technology and knowing what we know today today， about what governments do that's completely against human rights and the true story won't come out until I'm old and grey， rings loudly out of this one。 Done COMPLETELY in a way my 65yo father could read and understand。 After all， do you REALLY ever know who the good or bad guys are in real life？ Do they wear suits and attend fancy fundraisers， of course some of them do， however， some of them don't either。 While I'm not a romance reader， I'll read anything， just as long as "romance" doesn't pop up as it's main genre， I enjoyed the fact that the "fiancée" was educated， femine， tough， and most importantly could stand her ground and trusted her gut。 It would have been very easy to end this book on a beach with an elopement or everyone playing happy families， it didn't。 Just like poker， there's a time for winners and a time for losers， and playing your hand JUST right is the biggest factor on which one of those you are， the winner， or the loser。 The ending left you satisfied in terms of it finished， conclusively。 If I hadn't noticed it was the first in a series， I would have been left quite happy！ The fact IT IS the beginning of one， leaves me even happier！ I definitely didn't think I'd leave more than a few stars after an afternoon "wasted" on a easy to read， "easy to figure out" plot， let alone write a 5 star review before going to find the next book。 No it's not the puzzle of the holy grail， but it definitely is relatable to the real world and those of us who wonder what secrets politicians etc take to their grave if they aren't exposed beforehand， however it does have a plot that stands out from the crowd of "military muscle saves woman he loves from corrupt *insert job title here*" which was refreshing！ One other point I'll make is the author did a fantastic job at describing where everything takes place， each and every worthy location or organization， without going too overboard， for example， mentioning military bases， they don't need describing， we've all seen the movies etc， however explaining the detail of the vineyard wasn't over the top， but it gave you a clear picture in your mind to "watch" the scenario play out， it also didn't overemphasize any， leading you to think you know what will happen next， or the potential importance of something。 Overall it leaves you with a grin on your face knowing every corrupt politician/businessmen out there in the real world， in some way or another， has a Clayton White， living his life， but holding the cards tightly over theirs incase the need arises。 。。。more

The lady protector -This book was full of action。 Clayton White taking on the bad guys， but not really knowing who the real bad person is。 A great start， still good in the middle but a little slower and then back to all action at the end。 I suspect the story will follow on into book 2。 I’ll give it 4。75 out of 5。
